About us

We operate from Edinburgh and London, delivering high-quality bicycle and active travel infrastructure solutions across the UK and overseas

Born from a passion for hassle-free cycling

We started with one simple idea: cycling should never be a hassle. What began as a small service centre soon grew into our own bike repair station, built to keep people moving wherever their ride takes them. Today we design and manufacture a whole range of active travel products, all created to make every journey smoother, easier and a bit more fun!

More information

Driven by the climate emergency, we aim to facilitate a more sustainable way of daily living, specifically focused on transportation.

Decarbonising transport is critical to achieving the UK's Net Zero 2050 target. As a zero-emission solution, bicycles are energy-efficient and reduce urban noise pollution.

Our VeloBox unit provides secure storage for 12 bikes in a single car parking space, actively promoting cycling.

Our goals are to:

  • Provide secure bike storage to encourage cycling over fuel-powered transport
  • Promote cycling as an efficient, sustainable mode of transportation
  • Persuade institutions, communities, and businesses to adopt our ethos and champion cycling

We recognise our operations, processes and manufacturing all have an impact on the environment, including the designs we create. We are committed to our business operations and sustainable design to minimise the impact of our activities on the natural environment. We are committed to:

  • Conserving resources by ensuring energy efficiency in the units we design and supply
  • Reducing waste generation at the source and encouraging recycling
  • Specifying and promoting the use of recycled and recyclable materials to minimise the consumption of natural resources
  • Preventing pollution and minimising adverse impacts on the environment and communities by considering the environmental, social and financial costs of products or services over the life-cycle
  • Enhancing our circular economy without compromising on quality to ensure our products are as sustainable as possible with minimal waste

Our VeloBox has been made with simple frame geometry, refined connection and ergonomics for easy use and durability. The materiality has been minimised, whilst also providing adequate security and robustness. We want to build a unit that is simple to install and maintain, which will also endure inclement weather conditions and wear and tear to return maximum longevity. Grease Monkey is always refining its methods and processes in manufacturing and business to continually design for the future, and provide our customers with their desired solution.

We adopt a continuous innovation and improvement system.

VeloBoxes’ design is adaptable to fit different uses; it can be altered to house buggies, scooters and mobility units where required, to bring a design that lasts and can live out future changes and requirements. To achieve genuine sustainability, we ‘make it last’.

At Grease Monkey, we are committed to fostering a work environment that upholds principles of fairness, equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are a Fair Work First company and our policy outlines our commitment to promoting equal opportunities, preventing discrimination and harassment, ensuring fair compensation and benefits, and prioritising employee well-being.
